UNDERSTANDING PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS

Explaining Public Improvement Districts and where to find more information.

What’s a PID? It stands for Public Improvement District, and as of September 1, all of our sellers have to note whether they are in a PID or not. Here are resources to find that information and assist your client when most of them don’t even know what that is:

1. The San Antonio Board of Realtors. In the MLS itself, under the Resources link, you’ll find information on the Public Improvement Districts. This will take you through several other links which contain the information you want.“All of our sellers have to note whether they are in a PID or not.”

2. The Texas Realtors’ legal memo. Linked here, this memo explains what a PID is and the liability associated with them.

3. The Bexar County Website. Here you will find county-specific information on Public Improvement Districts. It lists exactly where these districts are and what they are.

Please make sure that your sellers are filling out their disclosure notice correctly—including information relating to a possible PID. If you have any questions, you can always feel free to call us at (210) 305-5665. Have a great day.
